So your thinking of a saint go ahead I can’t fault them but think first!
-
Have you the time to train them or any breed of puppy?
-
Do you have the time to take them on walks daily and the time needed to socialise them and play with
them?
-
Then how would you feel if they drooled down your dry clean only fancy new coat?
They do drool not quite as much as you’d think but it does happen some more than others (Daisy
only becomes slobbery after a drink)
- Where will you house such a dog?
- If you plan on them sleeping indoors where will you put a large dog bed?
- Will they sleep on your bed?
(Ok when there a puppy but not so fun when they weigh 60 or more kilos and are taking the whole bed
over every night?)
If you plan to sleep them outside you need space for a kennel more likely to be a small shed than a
pretty little kennel from pet shops! Remember a small 3foot garden fence won’t keep them in either! But if that
doesn’t put you off then go for it once your sure you can afford to support the dogs needs including food, injections
,toys ,chews and unexpected vet bills.
The saddest reason I have seen st Bernard’s up for rehoming is people just cant cope with there
size saying they didn’t realise it would grow so big! Remember it’s a large breed dog you’re buying not a tea cup terrier!
The other most common reason is a baby on the way, if you train your puppy pre pregnancy then there
won’t be any problems and the dog will soon come to be the Childs best friend and protector. Im sure Daisy and
Dora would give there lives for my children and without doubt they have unconditional love for each other.
